The Legal 500 – 2014

In its 2014 Edition, the Legal 500 is again ranking our firm among the top law firms in the Luxembourg legal market. The position of KLEYR GRASSO as one of the leading firms is thus confirmed in all major practice areas.

In Dispute resolution, we are now ranked as one of the top 6 firms (1st tier) in the market. The editorial says:

Contentious work is a core area for the ‘excellent’ Kleyr | Grasso | Associes, where ‘go-to individual’ Marc Kleyr is ‘particularly impressive for his clarity of thought’ and Rosario Grasso excels in white-collar crime cases. Notable for the breadth of its caseload, the team’s recent work includes acting for the Luxembourg government in a public procurement case before the European Court of Justice, and representing the Slovak Republic in the Luxembourg courts concerning a €22m German arbitration award to a Dutch insurer.

Within Employment, the firm is now also ranked as an absolute top tier firm (within the top 5 in the legal market), where the editorial says:

Kleyr | Grasso | Associes’ dedicated standalone practice is much in demand and led by the ‘highly professional and successful’ Christian Jungers, who has ‘deep and precise technical knowledge’. Clients include local and international companies and banks. Jungers recently led advice to Mitsubishi UFJ Global Custody concerning sensitive employee terminations, and assisted a national rail subsidiary in relation to its collective work agreement.

Within Real estate, KLEYR GRASSO is also one of the top 6 firms (1st tier) in the market. The editorial says:

Kleyr | Grasso | Associes advised on a variety of matters from real estate finance to construction litigation. Litigators Yasmine Poos and François Collot co-head the real estate and construction department, which also includes key transactional partner Patrick Chantrain. Collot and Chantrain are described by clients as being ‘well organised’ and ‘responsive’. Luxembourg’s Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure is a key client of the practice.

Within Insurance, we are listed as one of the top 8 law firms in the market. The editorial writes:

Kleyr | Grasso | Associes advises on regulatory as well as corporate issues and insurance litigation. Rosario Grasso, Rina Breininger and the team advise Builders’ Reinsurance SA, AFES-AVUS Luxembourg and HDI-Gerling, among others. The entire team is ‘reactive and creative, with extensive knowledge in this area’.

In Banking and finance, KLEYR GRASSO keeps its position as an excellent service provider in the within top 10 law firms. The editorial says:

Kleyr | Grasso | Associes delivers ‘an excellent service’, and recently provided local advice to a consortium of banks including Rabobank, ABN AMRO and Deutsche Bank on the €1.2bn financing of Advent International’s acquisition of shares in Mediq. Patrick Chantrain and Pascal Sassel attract high praise from clients.

The same applies to Corporate and M&A, where KLEYR GRASSO is well placed as a second tier firm and praised for its responsiveness. The editorial writes:

At Kleyr | Grasso | Associes, Marc Kleyr, the ‘very responsive’ Rina Breininger and Patrick Chantrain are ‘proactive and demonstrate good industry knowledge’. Highlights included acting for BlackRock on the local aspects of its acquisition of Swiss Re’s private equity business. Jean-Paul Spang, former head of corporate at Linklaters LLP, recently joined the firm.

Finally KLEYR GRASSO is also listed for its activity in Investment funds, where it is praised for its work within the private equity and hedge fund industry:
